The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has condemned the killing of a female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem by Assistant Superintendent of Police.
A Lagos lawyer Raheem Bolance is reported to have been shot dead in Lagos in the eave of 2022 Christmas.
The lagos based female lawyer is said to have been killed by the shooting from a rifle fired by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The incident took place on Christmas Day in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
Bolanle was shot to death yesterday while trying to make a U-turn under Ajah Bridge, Lagos.
Bolanle was reported to have been returning in the company of her family from Christmas service, after which she was pursued by a cop who fired at her vehicle.
While she was on Ajah bridge maneuvering a U-turn his bullet got her and she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was reported to have given up the ghost.
The National Publicity Secretary, NBA, Akorede Lawal, while reacting to the unfortunate incident, described the incident as regrettably unfortunate, noting that the president of the association, Yakubu Maikyau, was aware and studying the situation.
This was disclosed this via his Twitter handle. According to him:
“We are aware of this unfortunate incident. This is yet another crime against a lawyer. Regrettably, our member is gone. The NBA President @YCMaikyauSAN is right on this and we shall ensure that justice is duly served.” Vanguard reported

The incident is said to have happened when an unnamed policeman attached to the Ajah Police Station and his team manned a check point and tried to stop the deceased in the company of her family members on their way back home from church after attending a Christmas service on 25th December 26, 2022, as reported by Vanguard News.
The deceased is reported to have been short on Ajah bridge after which she was rushed to the hospital but confirmed dead on arrival
